Your baby is Home now. How cute it looks! It always soothes a mother when she looks at her baby sleeping comfortably and breathing smoothly. There is no problem till the baby is all safe and secure. Parents usually look for the advice from the doctor before leaving the hospital. They seek advice for what to do and what not to do. Saliva and some amount of regurgitated milk, sometimes create chest congestion in a baby. Check your baby for any abnormality by phoning a doctor if the situation is not normal. But it is a mild problematic situation and the baby usually recovers soon if this is not accompanied by some severe condition.
- Rapid Breathing
Another situation that concerns a mother is rapid breathing of her baby. This might be caused by some sort of overheating or too much crying. The breathing rate slows down as the overheating is minimized or the baby calms down. It is not a matter to be worried about. Consult a doctor only in a situation when everything is normal other than baby breathing rate.
- Consistent Choking or Coughing
You should go to a pediatrician if your baby falls a pray to consistent choking or coughing. The babies usually take in too much milk to breathe easily that makes them prone to choking and coughing. This is not a harmful situation because it normalizes as the time passes.
Immediate treatment is not recommended even your baby cough sounds like croup. It sounds a bit terrible but not harmful unless other indications of croup appear.
