When shopping for baby swings and related products, parents are looking for any number of things.
Price will almost always be a factor. The price tags on such products are all over the place.
At the same time, thoughtful parents want a swing that’s attractive, well-made and durable, all the things that translate into a sound and sensible buy.
This swing from Comfort & Harmony fits all those criteria perfectly: Even though it’s less expensive than many other competing products, it doesn’t look, feel or behave like a “bargain basement” item in any way.
Packed With Features
For such an inexpensive swing, this entry manages to cram in an awful lot of goodies. Its list of features is quite impressive:
- The manufacturer’s “True Speed” technology is designed to keep all six swinging speeds consistent as the baby grows and gains weight. There’s a speed for every baby’s preference
- For baby’s entertainment and amusement, the swing plays half a dozen original melodies and there’s a volume control and auto-shutoff feature for the music
- The seat itself reclines in two positions and a foam toy bar with a pair of plush toys easily pivots when putting the baby in and removing him or her from the swing
Any swing of essentially any size is “portable” in the sense that it can be picked up and transported from one place to another.
A true portable should quickly and easily fold up quite flat for storage and moving. This one is designed to do exactly that. With one hand, it folds up flat, either to be taken somewhere else or to be stowed away almost anywhere – in a closet, in the trunk, under the bed, even behind a couch or chair.
Thankfully, this swing – despite its attractive price – comes with a five-point safety harness. Some swing makers cut costs up front by utilizing only a three-point design. That isn’t inherently unsafe but it’s widely believed that a five-point is preferable because of the additional upper-body support it provides. A baby is bound to look and feel more secure strapped in via the five-point method.
Like many (if not most) truly portable baby swings, the Cozy Kingdom operates only on batteries – four “C” cells. The manufacturer estimates battery life at three hours. An AC-power option is a desirable feature and would more than likely be a money-saver but prudent parents can easily find battery bargains. Buying batteries in bulk is one option to be explored as well as investing in a charger and using rechargeable batteries in the swing. The latter strategy would definitely pay off in the long haul.
Just the Facts
The swing weighs 7 pounds. Its dimensions are 34 x 28 x 24 inches.
It is designed to safely and comfortably accommodate babies and infants of up to 20 pounds. Always remember that a baby is too big for a swing if he or she has grown large or heavy enough to attempt to climb out.
The seat and removable head support are machine washable. They can be fluff- or air-dried in the family dryer. Other parts of the swing can be easily spot-cleaned with a soft rag and warm water.
The manufacturer provides a one-year limited warranty.
This is a sturdy swing in which our test baby seemed to be quite comfortable in his very soft, plush seat.
Everything worked exactly as advertised and we particularly appreciated the way it offers a lot of features without taking up a corresponding amount of room. The music timer is a feature often not found at all on even the most expensive swings.
Easy to assemble and extremely simple to operate, this cute, jungle-themed swing has a quiet motor, does everything well and is as handy a swing as you’re likely going to find out there in the crowded marketplace.
It may not be as fancy and frilly as some you’ll run across but you can make considerable savings without really sacrificing anything vital at all. That should make you a proud shopper and a happy parent!
