With so many products available in the baby- and infant-care segment of the marketplace, many shoppers tend to have a “one size fits all” mentality – find an item that does one thing very well and hope that it adapts perfectly to your particular needs.
Sadly, this thinking doesn’t always lead to the best decision, particularly when it comes to swings, gliders, rockers, and similar products.
All too often, we find (after the purchase, of course) that the item just doesn’t fit our needs. That “one thing” the swing does for some reason doesn’t calm the baby and put him to sleep.
That’s why products like the Ingenuity Convertme Swing-2-Seat are such a blessing. This one does two thing well – double duty!
Swing and Vibrate
The word “Convertme” in the product name means that the swing easily converts into a vibrating seat. The transition is a snap thanks to nice, big buttons and what maker Ingenuity calls its “Easylock” technology.
There are two clear advantages here… First, your perhaps already cluttered abode will only have one new piece of equipment to take up precious real estate, not two.
Firstly, your perhaps already cluttered abode will only have one new piece of equipment to take up precious real estate, not two.
Secondly (as parents well know), you can’t please all babies all of the time (to borrow from the famous quote of Abraham Lincoln). Some babies will be best-served in the swing (this one has five separate speeds). Others will better enjoy just the vibrations. The next day, or even the next hour, his preference might change, so the flexibility comes in mighty handy. When baby’s quiet and happy, so are mom and dad!
Like similar products, the Convertme plays a series of melodies and “nature sounds” to calm, entertain, and simulate the babe and a toy bar with a pair plush toys pivots above. Ingenuity thoughtfully added a trio of loops so that more toys (baby’s existing favorites, perhaps?) can be added later on.

Another handy feature is that the swing timer can be set for 30, 45, or 60 minutes. The swing function is designed to stay speed-consistent as the baby grows and gains weight.

Nothing is more important than the safety and wellbeing of the baby and safety was obviously uppermost in the design of this product. It features non-slip feet, and the harness has a five-point design, which is generally considered to be safer and more supportive than the three-point system found on many competitors’ offerings.
Facts and Figures
The device is made in China.
It weighs 17 pounds. Its dimensions are 22 x 23.5 x 23 inches.
It is designed to safely accommodate babies and infants up to 20 pounds.
Both the soft seat pad and included head-support piece are machine-washable.
A Money Saver
The unit will not operate with AC power, which could be a drawback since battery costs can easily mount up. But the manufacturer says it’s alleviated that concern with what it refers to as “Hybridrive” technology. The system purportedly allows batteries (four “D” cell and one “C” cell) to last an impressive three times longer.
Take It With You
Portability is a major concern for parents interested in products like this one. They’ll be happy to learn that this unit is completely portable – it folds up absolutely flat and will easily fit in the trunk or hatchback of the car and can be stowed away under the bed or in even the smallest of closets.
There’s really nothing substantially negative to say about this product, especially at such an appealing price point.
The only downside is that it doesn’t operate on electrical power straight from the wall. If batteries aren’t your thing then you’ll have to look elsewhere.
But our tests showed that, beginning with extremely easy assembly, everything worked just as it should. It’s an attractive, well-made unit that is as easy to use and as portable as anything you’re liable to find out there.
It operates quietly and efficiently, doing its job with a minimum of hassle and fuss.
But, perhaps most importantly, it’s really two products in one. That should make it quite attractive to parents looking for value – and, in this day and age, who isn’t?
